With the upcoming hurricane season upon us, are you prepared with your homeowners insurance policy? And do you understand the differences with your deductibles?
Most default homeowner deductible amounts for hurricane/wind damage is 2% of the dwelling amount on the policy. That means, if your home is insured for $300k, your deductible for any hurricane/wind damage would be $6000. Most deductibles for All Other Perils is usually a flat $1,000. All Other Perils would cover any losses NOT related to hurricane/wind/hail...... Most carriers offer flat deductibles for hurricane/wind too. Did you know that? For a small additional premium per year, you can choose a $500 or $1000 flat deductible for ALL losses (including hurricane / wind). You should have your agent (hopefully, that is me!) quote the difference in premium for you. It is much easier to come up with a $500 or $1000 deductible, rather than a $6,000 deductible (using our scenario above). Please let us know if we can quote yours! Call or email us today....
